It took me a while to create this post due to the massive amount of pictures we took.
WARNING: If you're planning to go to Batanes, make sure you bring along an extra battery and a memory card. Meals are expensive--around 300 per person--but it's worth trying their local food! They don't tell you those things in their blogs!
Day 1 Morning: South Batan Tour
A lot of travel agencies have half day itineraries for North and South Batan Tour. And then on the third day, they'll let you tour around Sabtang Island.
But since I organized our own trip, we toured around the whole Batan and Sabtang Island for just two days---way much cheaper!
Anway, below are the photos that we took. There's no need for explanations. The picture says it all
Day 1 Morning: South Batan Tour
The infamous Malboro Country (or as locals name it as Panawam Village)
I'm really enjoying the place!
The stonehouses built on top of a mountain!
Before we proceeded to North Batan, we ate at a restaurant/canteen that served local food (ubod, lunes, venes--yep that's the name of the viands! ).
It's a must that you make a reservation in this canteen before you eat here! Di lang kasi basta basta nila sinasayang pagkain
DAY 1 Afternoon: North Batan Tour
This is where you will be visitnig Fundacion Pacita! It costs about 10,000 per night to stay here! But 50% of the proceed go to the locals.
For photography enthusiasis, the boulder beach is a must visit!
I'm not really a fan of lighthouses but this is an obligatory shot whenever you visit Batanes
On the way to North Batan
I guess this is where they get the flying fishes--a staple meal in Batanes
If you're on a tight budget, you can hire a bike for 500 pesos per day or a motorcycle for 1,500 pesos (just bring your driver's license)
As for us, we rented a van for 4,500 per day. But since I had a lot of energy left after the tour, I went biking alone! Hahah
Their weather station
The view from one of the rooms in Fundacion Pacita
Who wouldn't want to wake up to this every every morning?
The stone church!
Roads in Batanes!
House of Dakay which is more than a century old (Year 1887 to be exact)!
The infamous Honesty Coffee Shop
Day 2: Sabtang Island
Aside from another mountain scenic view, Sabtang is known for its stonehouses which protects them from strong typhoons.
And below are the scenic view from Sabtang Island
If you have lots of energy, you can climb down the mountain and take a swim at the beach
DISCLAIMER: I'm not sure whether the pictures that I posted are part of North or South Batan! Hahah! I plan to visit the place again soon. Contact me if you want me to organize a Batanes itinerary for you! :)
